Effect of compressive residual stress introduced by cavitation peening and shot peening on the improvement of fatigue strength of stainless steel

چکیده

One of the traditional methods used to improve fatigue properties metallic materials is shot peening. More recently, cavitation peening, in which surface treated using impact, has been developed, and improvements this makes life strength have reported. In order clarify difference between these two methods, stainless steel SUS316 L samples were by peening evaluated utilizing a displacement controlled plane bending test. The residual stress hardness before after test measured, roughness each specimen was also measured. It concluded that peened specimens at ?a > 450 MPa longer than specimens; however, slightly larger specimens. compressive introduced both decreased during reduction greater specimens, test, found corresponded well with yield estimated from Vickers corrected obtained
